On
Tuesday the 10th of May our Woodside Buddies once again came
to ward 3B and provided a funfilled day for children, parents
and staff. This year the weather did not let us down, the
sun decided to shine and almost everyone was able to sit outside
and enjoy the day. A very tall ladybird arrived and made balloon
sculptures of all descriptions for any one who wanted one
including parents. While our Woodside buddies slaved over
a hot barbeque cooking a super sausage sizzle for lunch everyone
was entertained by a special guest and judging by the laughter
it could only have been a clown. There were magic tricks,
which were'nt always succesful, jokes and general mayhem with
lots of audience participation. Our Woodside Buddies also
spent time playing games with the children and chatting to
their parents.

A
scrumptious lunch was enjoyed by everyone including staff
(try keeping them away) made even more enjoyable becasue
we did'nt have to cook it ourselves or do the washing
up. To top the day off our Woodside Buddies presented
the Kids Cancer Support Group with a generous cheque for
$2,800 dollars which they had collected. Some of this
will be used by Ranita our O.T. to purchase some interactive
sand and water play systems to use on the ward and also
some interactive toys for the little ones to use when
in isolation. The children are making thankyou cards and
letters to send to our Woodside Buddies to let them know
how much their support both emotional and financial are
appreciated on Ward 3B. We also hope our buddies are able
to take away with them some of the happiness they help
to create for our special children and their families.
3 Cheers for our Woodside Buddies.
