Kids Cancer Support Group
is a volunteer, non-profit incorporated association formed
in 1983 under the name 'The Life Family Support Group of
Children with Cancer and Leukaemia' It was originally founded
by a group of parents who had children diagnosed with thses
diseases and P.M.H. because they saw a need to support each
other through the traumatic time in their families lives.
Since that time the group has formed a close relationship
with a number of external networks and with the medical
profession. All funds generated through fundraising go directly
towards benefits for the children and families of 3B.
The primary aims of the group are;
To improve the quality of life for children
with cancer & Leukaemia and their families.
To improve conditions, treatment facilities and
the quality of care available for children diagnosed with
cancer & Leukaemia.
To provide information related to these diseases.
To address the issue of siblings of children who are diagnosed.
The purchase of general equipment needed
for the Oncology ward at P.M.H.
Activities undertaken by the K.C.S.G. include:
The purchase of videos, games, craft and
educational equipment to assist rehabilitation and entertainment
of the children on the ward.
Provide a quarterly newsletter including the payment of
printing and postage.
Provide a twice monthly Morning Tea where parents mey get
together in a relaxed atmosphere.
Address the issue of siblings by securing funding by Woodside
for Camp Onwards.
Funding the Christmas Picnic, buying gifts and providing
entertainment on the day.
Currently funding a statewide telephone raffle to raise
funds to support the building of the new Adolescent Wing.
Funding the Scrapbooking mornings and equipment needed.
Funding the Bereaved Parent group, magazine and other needs
by this group.

Kylie Forth: An Inspiration to others
Kylie
Forth looks like most other 16-year-old school girls but she's
made of something so tough that, if we were honest with ourselves,
most of us would admit we could never match her.
Despite her having lost both eyes and a leg to cancer, her
inspirational life led her to being named one of six finalists
in the Youth Minister's Positive Image Awards.

Peter Ellis was diagnosed with Leukaemia
on Valentine's Day of 1995. After starting chemo he had
a few complications (brain haemorrhage and stroke) but overcame
these difficulties with the love and support of his family.
