Making A Difference!
In 2007 a fantastic group of dedicated people called the GWN TREKKERS approached the K.C.S.G. in regard to raising funds to benefit the children and families of the Oncology Ward at P.M.H.
Since the first Trek in 2007 these amazing and special people have raised in excess of $450,000.00 for the K.C.S.G.
This generous amount of money has made a significant difference to the lives of the children and their families while undergoing treatment for Cancer.
The money they have raised enables Ranita the Occupational Thereapist to hold a Sibling Camp each year and for the group to continue the annual Christmas Picnic. We have been able to support Carol the Activities Co-ordinator with the purchase of the Patients Puppets and other equipment which helps the children with their treatment procedures.
We have been able to help families and the ward staff with many things they would have had to go without if it weren't fro the Trekkers and their generosity.
In 2009 $300,000.00 of the money raised will be used to create the most amazing and interactive outdoor areas of the Oncology Ward. Check out "What's New" page for more news on this terrific project.
On Thursday 27th August the Trekkers took off on the 2009 Trek. Their desination was Broome stopping off along the way to promote the Kids Cancer Support Group and collect as much money as possible for our very special children.
They returned on 6th September 2009 to share with us news and photos of their journey.
The Trekkers will also be attending our annual Christmas Picnic this year with their cars and lots of activities for the children. What a perfect opportunity to meet them all and thank them for everything they do for the children and families of Ward 3B.
